AI models / PRODUCTION GUIDE
What changes when you set a different default AI model?
After changing the default, open the workbench you will use next. Check whether a person is enabled, who is selected and whether that image purpose uses a model. A saved draft may restore its own choice, so the library badge alone is not enough.
Separate a default from an approved campaign identity
A default is a convenient reference choice. A campaign identity is a separate approval decision. Keep the approved person reference and intended scenes with the campaign brief; library choice and account scope answer a different question.
If the next campaign needs a different person, make that choice deliberately. Review the resulting product-and-person image. An appealing portrait does not prove correct product contact, garment details or consistency across the campaign.
Check which state you are changing
| State | What to inspect after changing the default |
|---|---|
| Model library | The intended default badge |
| Current image picker | The person actually selected |
| Saved workbench draft | Its retained choice and whether person use is enabled |
| Previously submitted task or completed asset | Its original inputs or output: changing the default does not rewrite these |
The default badge alone cannot tell you which person the next request will use. Check the target workbench before submitting.
Reopen the workbench and inspect the actual selection
- Open the target workbench. Go to the Product images, A+ or Virtual try-on task you intend to run.
- Check whether a person is enabled. Use the applicable no-model choice when the request needs no person.
- Check who is selected. Read the visible picker and explicitly choose the campaign’s approved reference. A saved draft can restore its own choice.
- Check the purpose before submitting. Product images’ current product-only White and Details requests do not submit a selected model. A name shown in the library does not override that purpose.
The current interface clears temporary picker choices after a successful default change. A workbench draft can reapply a saved choice when reopened. This explains why checking the actual workbench matters.
| Fictional next-image state after setting Ellis as default | What can appear |
|---|---|
| The picker uses the default | Ellis |
| The reopened draft explicitly saved Rowan | Rowan can be reapplied |
| The applied draft has person use off | A product-only configuration |
These are source-based examples, not a browser test. If the needed reference is unavailable, hold the request rather than silently accepting a substitute.
Inspect the product-and-model combination before motion
Adobe describes style references as guidance for new variations. That is not documentation for CartVisual’s person-default control. Here, a selected person reference guides a new image; it is not a perfect identity lock. Check the face, pose, product contact and item details in the result.
Optional single-shot preview: inspect the person already pictured in its chosen source image. A plan needing independent character-reference sheets is directed to the complete TVC route.
Complete TVC: a selected 9-, 16- or 25-scene storyboard supplies a reviewed frame for each clip. Changing a library default does not recast those frames. To change the cast, revise the relevant source and plan, recreate and review the affected frames, then check the motion. One good first frame cannot approve the whole sequence.
Record the next selection instead of rewriting history
Save the next request’s actual person choice, purpose and source version with the campaign brief. For a new campaign identity, approve its initial combined image and the rest of the intended series. Do not treat a library badge as campaign approval.
Use the reference-version handoff so another creator can check the same choice. Recheck it after restoring a draft, switching accounts or moving between workbenches. No default, task, storyboard or media file was changed for this article.

Frequently asked questions
Does changing my default replace the person in a completed image?
No. The completed output remains the image already generated. A new person requires a separate creative request and review.
Can a saved workbench reopen with a model different from the new default?
A draft can retain and reapply its saved choice. Inspect the actual picker after opening the workbench.
Will the new default recast existing video source frames?
No. Changing a library preference does not rewrite people already pictured in a single-shot source or reviewed TVC scene frames. A cast change needs revised source/plan and fresh review of the affected frames and motion.
