Logo studio / DECISION CHECK
Is a free AI logo preview the same as a usable logo download?
Separate free exploration from the actual deliverable you need. A free preview can be useful for choosing a direction without including a high-resolution, transparent or vector download. Read the current export and rights terms before committing the brand to the design.
Define the first real use
Write down whether you need a store header, social avatar, printed box or editable brand system. A small preview might support discussion but fail the intended use. Do not compare two tools only by whether their homepages say “free”; compare what you can actually download and use for your specific application.
One documented example is Looka’s own product FAQ, read on October 21, 2026: design exploration is described as free while downloading files is paid, and its vector-file statement names Premium logo packages or a Brand Kit subscription. Treat that as the vendor’s stated scope, not an independent assessment or a current checkout quotation. Do not infer that every package contains editable native source, or copy that payment model onto another tool.
Read the deliverable before designing
| Need | Question to answer | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Web header | Dimensions and transparency included? | Actual sample export |
| Supplier artwork | True vector file included? | Inspectable vector content |
| Later edits | Editable source or only fixed exports? | Package description |
| Commercial campaign | What rights and restrictions apply? | Current applicable terms |
| Budget | One-time, subscription or extra export fee? | Current checkout details |
Avoid starting a paid checkout merely to discover basic deliverables. Review publicly available package details first, then inspect any authorized sample file. Commercial-use permission does not itself prove exclusivity or trademark availability.
Evaluate the export rather than the mockup
Use the logo deliverable comparison CSV as a manual record. Its sample row is fictional. Replace it with your own authorized evidence; the worksheet does not connect to or change any external account.
Fictional decision: a coffee brand needs an avatar now and a supplier-editable sign later. Record each separately. A transparent PNG may satisfy the avatar after actual size/background review while failing the later geometry requirement; an SVG extension still needs content inspection. A package promising vector files does not automatically promise the original editable typography master. The shared worksheet has one unapproved fictional PNG/header row; add the real sign and source-file rows instead of treating that sample as a completed supplier audit.
Before purchase, preserve the package name, observation date, listed formats, permitted uses and whether future edits require access to the service. After any authorized purchase, compare the actual delivered files with that record. No checkout, purchase, export or license clearance has been completed for this guide. Review permission and exclusivity as a separate decision.
Apply the same standard to CartVisual
Keep image generation and downstream production needs in the budget alongside exploration. A raster concept can still require external vector work, licensed typography and supplier review.
The current local AI-logo workspace separates saved brand planning from an image-generation job and labels that generated output as a raster/PNG concept. Its price display uses the current billing quotation, so check the live account before confirming. A saved plan is not a vector master or a completed generation. This code review does not establish the current production account balance, price or service availability.

Frequently asked questions
Is a preview useless if export costs money?
No. It can support exploration when the deliverable and cost are understood.
Does commercial permission mean exclusivity?
No. Review exclusivity and trademark questions separately.
Does CartVisual provide a native vector logo here?
The documented output is a raster concept requiring a separate vector handoff when needed.
