Product images / DECISION CHECK
Is the text on my bottle allowed, or is Google treating it as promotional image text?
Separate text physically present on the sold product from marketing graphics added to the photograph. A real label helps identify merchandise; an added price burst or “free shipping” banner changes the image into an advertisement. Inspect the fetched asset and the exact issue before removing legitimate packaging evidence.
Inventory the text by origin
Place the real reference beside the delivered feed image. Mark each text region as printed on the item, added by an editor, or invented by generation. For a fictional skincare bottle, the actual brand and volume belong to the product evidence. A floating discount ribbon does not. A generated certification badge is neither harmless styling nor valid evidence merely because it appears on the bottle.
Google’s main-image guidance restricts promotional overlays. Read the current specification for the destination and image role rather than borrowing an ad-platform rule. Do not assume that moving a sale claim onto simulated packaging makes it acceptable or truthful.
The detailed image specification distinguishes superimposed names/logos from those inherent in the physical product. That distinction does not exempt an inaccurate or invented label. For each disputed region, save a sharp source reference, identify whether the wording is actually on the shipped item and note whether it was added after capture.
Make a text-origin review
| Text region | Evidence | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Actual printed brand and size | Sharp reference of shipped item | Preserve accurate identity |
| Added discount or shipping message | Editor or generated overlay | Use a clean main feed export |
| Invented label wording | Absent from real product | Reject or accurately repair |
| Unclear small text | Unreadable source photo | Retake evidence before approval |
This distinction is an editorial diagnosis, not a policy exemption or guaranteed appeal outcome. If the platform still flags a clean accurate product photo, retain the source comparison and ask support to review the specific issue.
Keep clean and promotional exports separate
Create a clean identification image for the main feed and keep your promotional layout as a separately named asset for eligible placements. Do not overwrite both with one ambiguous filename. In CartVisual, choose the white-background role for a restrained starting point and verify the output against the real label. A requested plain background does not itself certify external policy compliance.
Fictional review: region A is the bottle’s actual 50 mL volume; B is a floating “FREE SHIPPING” ribbon; C is an invented certification seal painted onto the generated label. Retain A only where it matches the source, prepare a separate clean export without B, and reject or correctly repair C from authorized evidence. Moving B onto a simulated bottle surface does not change its origin or verify its claim.
Approve the delivered picture
Inspect the actual CDN rendition used by the feed. A clean master is irrelevant if the connector still points to yesterday’s discount banner. Record the label evidence, clean export version and processed issue status. Keep real product words readable where possible, but never reconstruct unreadable required text from a guess. The source photograph remains the authority for what is printed on the merchandise.
Compare the final feed response with the approved clean export and keep the version identifiers together. If source label text cannot be read, obtain a clearer authorized reference instead of guessing letters. If the platform still reports a text issue after the correct clean asset is actually fetched, retain the region-by-region source comparison for the specific support review. This is a proposed editorial workflow, not an appeal outcome or a tool that removes image text automatically.

Frequently asked questions
Must all label text be erased?
Do not erase accurate product identity merely because an image issue mentions text. Inspect the specific image and rule.
Can a generated sale badge look printed?
Appearance does not make an invented claim part of the real product.
Can the ad version and main feed version differ?
They can serve different roles, subject to each destination’s rules and factual consistency.
