Packaging studio / QUESTION GUIDE

How do you review a collapsible gift box in both flat and assembled states?

Review the actual box in its transport state and its assembled presentation state. A generated open gift-box image can conceal hinges, fold panels or fastening details that determine how it works. Keep both states in the handoff and identify which state each marketing image represents.

01 / HOW DO YOU REVIEW A COLLAPSIBLE GIFT BOX IN BOTH FLAT AND ASSEMBLED STATES?

Define “flat” before reviewing the image

Obtain the supplier’s exact structure and state description. Flat before assembly, closed after assembly and open for presentation are different views. Do not derive the transported form or assembly method from a generated open-box scene.

PackMojo distinguishes non-collapsible and collapsible magnetic boxes, describing adhesive corners in its flat-shipping version. This is a supplier example, not proof that every magnetic box folds flat or can be flattened again after assembly.

02 / HOW DO YOU REVIEW A COLLAPSIBLE GIFT BOX IN BOTH FLAT AND ASSEMBLED STATES?

Keep the two states attached to one structure

Fictional box C02 ships flat before the supplier-defined corner assembly and then uses its specified hinged presentation. Artwork A07 is intended for that structure. A proposed assembled render instead shows a fully detachable lid and a ribbon acting as its closure.

ViewMatch to the approved C02/A07 pairMismatch to resolve
Flat transportActual panels, supplied parts and corner constructionDo not infer hidden panels from the render
Assembled closedApproved hinge/closure and outer artworkReject the invented detachable lid or ribbon mechanism
Assembled openActual interior, folds and included insertDo not add a supplied insert that the record lacks
After use or repackingOnly a configuration separately supported by the supplierDo not promise re-collapse or repeated-use from ships-flat wording

This is an invented comparison, not a box test or assembly instruction. If the supplier changes the corner construction, check the affected artwork and views against the new structure rather than keeping a preferred old render.

03 / HOW DO YOU REVIEW A COLLAPSIBLE GIFT BOX IN BOTH FLAT AND ASSEMBLED STATES?

Check artwork across the actual state change

Have the designer compare the flat production artwork with the assembled sample: folded corners, inner-lid orientation, hidden copy and closure overlap. An attractive closed front can conceal that a mark crosses a fold or a message is upside down when opened.

Use the concept to discuss the intended visual direction, not to invent fold topology. A general magnetic-box concept is not an approved collapsible assembly plan. Do not turn a decorative ribbon into the fastening authority because it looks convincing.

04 / HOW DO YOU REVIEW A COLLAPSIBLE GIFT BOX IN BOTH FLAT AND ASSEMBLED STATES?

Approve each represented state explicitly

Record the structure revision, artwork revision, actual sample and which state each published image represents. Keep transport and assembled evidence coordinated; a new flat file and old assembled image are not automatically one approved design.

Use structure selection for the pack choice and folded-artwork review for panel continuity. No assembly, re-collapse, durability or shipping test was performed here.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Does ships flat mean it can be flattened again after assembly?

Not necessarily. Obtain the supplier’s evidence for any claimed after-use or repacking state.

Can a generated render provide the flat assembly plan?

No. Use the actual structure, supplied parts and approved instructions.

Can two different state views use different revisions?

Reconcile them to the same approved structure/artwork pair or clearly document the intended difference before release.
