DELIVERY TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images

Why did Resize to Fit not turn my product photos into square images?

A fit-to-box resize limits dimensions while retaining proportions; it is not the same operation as making a square canvas. Decide whether the destination needs a crop or padding before batching product photographs.

01 / WHY DID RESIZE TO FIT NOT TURN MY PRODUCT PHOTOS INTO SQUARE IMAGES?

Work through the cause

  1. Take one portrait and one landscape source. Record the required final canvas dimensions, not just a maximum side length.
  2. Resize proportionally, then use an explicit canvas or crop step in a working copy. Keep enough space for the full product when padding is appropriate.
  3. Inspect the resulting width and height for both samples before running the larger batch. Save outputs outside the source folder.

A concrete case (illustrative)

Illustrative case: a 1200 × 1800 bottle photo fitted inside 1000 × 1000 becomes a portrait image, not a square tile. A square background can complete the delivery canvas; enlarging the bottle horizontally cannot.

Acceptance and next action

Pass when every delivery file has the requested canvas and the product is neither cut off accidentally nor distorted. Mixed source orientations are the essential pilot cases. Check the platform’s current requirements separately; this procedure does not prescribe a universal marketplace size.
