Product images / DECISION CHECK
The AI kept the right words. Why does my product label still look wrong?
Correct words are only one part of a correct label. The generator can put them on the wrong panel, swap hierarchy or change the logo-to-volume relationship. Compare the visual structure with the actual package as well as checking characters.
Build a small label map
Record the real brand, product name, size and any important edition identifier. Mark their order and physical location on the package. For a fictional serum bottle, the same four phrases placed on the cap instead of the front label would still depict the wrong product. A text extraction that finds all four phrases cannot resolve that positional failure.
Pebblely describes extracting text and position information to guide reference-led generation. That is a useful mechanism to study, not proof that any tool reproduces every label correctly. Keep the actual package reference as the authority.
Fictional label map, not a real serum specification: front label, first line “NORTH,” second line “Night serum,” lower line “30 mL”; cap carries none of those lines. Record the exact supplied reference and its visible reading order. If a generated image contains all three strings but puts “30 mL” across the cap or makes it the main brand line, the word match passes while the physical layout fails. The fourth field can be an edition identifier only if the real reference actually provides it; do not invent one to complete a form.
Keep unresolved tiny back-label text outside the approved map until a sharper real reference or authoritative artwork supplies it. OCR may suggest a transcription; it does not establish unseen characters, a legally reviewed label or correct positions on the curved package. Pebblely describes passing words, positions and style to its model; that is a vendor mechanism claim, not a test that every output succeeds. Use small-label evidence review when the authority is unreadable.
Proof four independent properties
| Property | Manual question | Reject example |
|---|---|---|
| Characters | Are the exact words correct? | Wrong size digit |
| Reading order | Does the label read in the right sequence? | Variant above the wrong product name |
| Physical panel | Are words on the actual printed face? | Back copy moved to the cap |
| Hierarchy and spacing | Is the recognizable label structure retained? | Tiny brand and dominant volume |
OCR can assist with finding a word error, but it is not a complete layout verifier. Also check whether the product curvature, reflections or occlusion make an identifying line unreadable at the actual delivered size.
Separate annotations from package printing
Added selling-point text should remain clearly outside the physical label unless it truly belongs to the product. Do not let an extra callout become simulated manufacturer artwork. If the generated label structure is wrong despite a sharp source, reject that candidate or use appropriate external artwork correction. A new elaborate prompt is less useful than a clearly identified positional defect.
Record a precise acceptance
For your approved image, retain a reference crop and a final crop with the reviewed regions marked in your private record. State which lines and positions were checked and which small text remains unresolved. CartVisual does not automatically certify OCR or label layout. An output can pass an exact-word check while failing product identity, so keep the release decision broader than “OCR passed.”
Sources and further reading
Recorded source-review dates are listed individually below. An undated source does not inherit the article’s publication date. Software and platform rules can change; check the current original before acting.

Frequently asked questions
Does OCR prove the label is accurate?
No. Check word placement, hierarchy and panel identity too.
Can identical words describe a different-looking package?
Yes. Their physical structure and relationship can change product identity.
What if required text is unreadable in the source?
Obtain better evidence rather than reconstructing it from a guess.
