Image remix / PRODUCTION GUIDE
Should a product ad remix keep a borrowed before-and-after comparison?
Keep a before-and-after structure only when your own evidence supports the comparison it communicates. Replacing the product does not establish the old advertisement’s result. For an ordinary storage product, verify both arrangements, the objects involved and the viewing conditions, then decide whether the pair explains a documented change or needs a simpler feature-led layout.
Read the pair as a claim about change
Inspect the two panels, their labels and the arrow or sequence linking them. Ask what a viewer would think happened. A messy drawer beside a neatly divided drawer can suggest organization, added capacity or easier access. Those meanings depend on which objects remain, how the view changes and what the copy says, not just the divider shown in the second panel.
Use a hypothetical drawer organizer as the example. The borrowed reference shows many utensils before and a sparse, tidy arrangement afterward. If the replacement version quietly removes half the utensils, the apparent improvement may come from the changed scene. The organizer’s presence does not explain the comparison by itself.
Build a panel-by-panel evidence map
Keep a panel record for the merchant’s own setup. In this fictional drawer exercise, A shows 12 utensils in drawer D1. B shows nine utensils and organizer O2 in the same drawer. A neat result alone does not explain where three utensils went. The numbers are invented for the reasoning exercise; no capacity trial was run.
| Check | A versus B in the exercise | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Contents | 12 utensils versus nine | Find the three missing items; do not credit O2 with the apparent extra space |
| Drawer | Both must be the documented D1 | If B uses another drawer, record that change before comparison |
| View | Same relevant area must be visible | A tighter crop that hides clutter is a comparison change |
| Claim | What the real paired setup actually establishes | Do not add capacity, speed or ease claims without their own evidence |
If three utensils were intentionally removed, record that fact in the source notes. It may make a useful layout discussion, but it cannot silently stand in for the same-load comparison. Recount identifiable objects and check items hidden behind the divider; equal headline counts alone do not establish equal contents or fair conditions.
Choose evidence display or layout inspiration
If the campaign needs to communicate an actual before-and-after result, retain the genuine paired evidence and finish the presentation through an appropriate external editor. Exact labels, matching frames and a controlled comparison should be reviewed there. A generated scene can explore how a pair might be arranged, but it should not replace the observations that establish the change.
Adobe’s style-reference guidance describes visual influence. It does not establish the truth of a copied comparison. Borrowing the balance of two panels can be useful while replacing their content with your own verified evidence, or while abandoning the before-and-after meaning entirely.
Use Image remix for a clearly defined concept
In Image remix, use a reference you are permitted to use and the actual replacement item. Explain whether the candidate is an internal layout concept or a different feature-led composition. Do not ask a generated after panel to prove that a drawer holds more objects or that a mechanism performs better.
For the hypothetical organizer, an alternative layout can show the real divider positions and a separate documented overview of the filled drawer. That preserves a useful product explanation without inheriting the borrowed improvement story. CartVisual does not measure storage capacity, reproduce a physical trial or validate a before-and-after effect from the visual result.
Review the comparison after final editing
After external editing, compare both exported panels with the real paired photographs. Recheck removed objects, camera view, drawer boundaries, crop and labels. An export that hides the remaining clutter may change the message even when its source files were genuine.
If the merchant lacks a supported A/B pair, use a single documented filled-drawer image or a feature-led layout. Review the arrow, panel order and captions as well as the words “before” and “after.” Deleting those two labels while keeping an obvious improvement sequence may leave the same unsupported meaning. A generated concept can remain an internal layout study; it is not substitute proof.
Use inherited associations for objects that imply claims and comparison-data provenance for measured values. Keep the actual source pair, conditions, claim and final export in the handoff. No drawer, organizer or observer has been tested here.

Frequently asked questions
Does replacing the product make a borrowed result valid?
No. Establish the actual comparison with your own paired evidence and conditions.
Can AI create the proof for a storage-capacity change?
No. A generated arrangement is not a physical measurement or observation of the product.
What if I only want the two-panel layout?
Borrow the arrangement only after reviewing the whole meaning. Remove unsupported improvement cues in labels, arrows and sequence, or retain the comparison with genuine paired evidence. Changing a heading alone may not remove the claim.
