Image remix / DECISION GUIDE
Can you replace a product that is partly hidden by a hand in a reference ad?
Use a clean source of the exact replacement product to decide whether the reference grip can work. A hand can hide the old item’s geometry or imply an action such as pressing a pump. Change the grip or composition when the new product cannot remain accurate and identifiable; generation does not recover hidden construction as evidence.
Separate the product evidence from the holding idea
In a fictional P4 pump-bottle campaign, reference A shows a hand across an old bottle’s nozzle and label. Source P4-front shows the replacement bottle unobstructed. A explains the idea of holding; P4-front establishes the visible shape, nozzle position and label. Neither photograph establishes an unseen rear surface.
Mark what A hides: an identification area, contact point, control or unknown edge. If the crop conceals the entire grip relationship, do not assume it is physically suitable for P4. Obtain a useful authorized view or choose a different layout. A convincing generated hidden surface is still not recovered product evidence.
Decide whether the grip implies an unsupported action
A finger resting on a nozzle may appear to press it. A hand under a large object may imply effortless one-handed support. Review what the still image communicates before focusing on finger anatomy. Correct-looking fingers can still tell the wrong product story.
For P4, the approved task is holding, with no dispensing shown. If the reference can only be followed by placing a finger in a pressing pose, change the hand position. A surface-supported bottle with a nearby hand can retain human context without pretending to demonstrate activation. Do not alter the bottle’s real controls to preserve an attractive pose.
Choose a composition from the evidence gap
| P4 observation | What the source supports | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Clean front source; reference fingers cover the label | Actual front identity but not a readable grip | Expose the label with a changed grip or support |
| Reference implies pressing; operation not established | Holding only | Remove the activation cue |
| New bottle is wider than the reference item | Replacement geometry | Change the hand arrangement, not the bottle width |
| Proposed camera reveals an undocumented back | No authoritative back view | Obtain evidence or keep that view out |
| Contact remains impossible after a candidate | A rejected interaction | Choose another composition or appropriate manual production |
This table is an editorial decision method, not a physical simulation or a tested ranking of hand-generation techniques.
Request a candidate and inspect the same boundaries
In Image Remix, select the chosen inspiration output and provide the actual P4 product photographs. State the visible requirements: preserve the front label, do not activate the pump, keep the real nozzle position, and allow a simpler grip. The workflow creates a candidate; it is not a pixel-locked local retouch brush.
Compare outline, component position, label visibility, finger count and contact. If a person reference is used through the current applicable selector, it is a separate input role; it does not guarantee a correct grip or an endorsement. Use contact and occlusion review for the scene relationship.
Approve only what the visible interaction establishes
Photoroom documents comparing corresponding image areas to the source in its supported Fidelity Check tools. That is a useful comparison of review scope, not an CartVisual automatic checker or a way to reconstruct a surface absent from the source.
For the fictional P4 record, note “candidate A1 rejected: finger implies pressing; A2 requested as surface-supported hold-only layout.” Then review A2 against the same product evidence. A simpler accepted interaction is more useful than a dramatic pose that conceals identity or invents operation. No image, grip or product test was performed for this example.

Frequently asked questions
Can a generated area behind the fingers count as recovered evidence?
No. Use authoritative unobstructed references or keep the unsupported view out of the composition.
Must the replacement keep the old hand pose?
No. Change the grip or support when the replacement has different geometry, controls or identification areas.
Can correct anatomy still misrepresent the product?
Yes. A plausible hand can imply activation, support or scale that the actual product evidence does not establish. Review that meaning separately.
