Image remix / PRODUCTION GUIDE
How to map several products in a reference ad to your own offer
A reference ad with several objects contains an offer structure as well as a layout. Identify the communication role of every product before replacing it. A hero item, an alternative and an included accessory are different promises. Preserve only the roles your own offer can support, then review the resulting count and hierarchy.
Read the offer before borrowing its layout
Mark each visible product in the reference, even a small one at the edge. Ask whether it is the hero, an alternate variant, an included accessory, a demonstration prop or a repeated view of the same unit. An unexplained miniature can suggest a travel size, sample or bundle member. Its small footprint does not reduce the factual burden it introduces.
Build a role map outside CartVisual with a named destination for each slot. That destination can be an actual item, a documented accessory, an explicitly separate variant or removal. Avoid copying the original count and deciding what it means afterward. A new composition can look correct while retaining an old offer structure that misstates what the buyer receives.
Assign a destination to each reference slot
In this invented reference, H is a large bottle, M is a miniature and T is a tray. New offer P5 supplies one full-size bottle only. Mark the three positions on a review copy outside CartVisual; these labels are not interactive slot controls.
| Reference slot | P5 assignment | Check in the result |
|---|---|---|
| H: hero bottle | One current full-size P5 | Correct pack size, label and dominant role |
| M: miniature | Remove | No mini size, free sample or second P5 invented |
| T: tray | Remove for the first candidate | No unverified accessory framed with the sale item |
| Any reflected or repeated bottle | Review as a separate visual occurrence | Does the composition imply a larger sold count? |
The product photographs establish P5’s actual identity. The ad reference establishes only the visual direction. Supplying several photographs of one P5 does not mean several units are included. If a later offer genuinely includes an accessory, create a new role map from that offer’s record.
Give Image remix the role assignments
Open Image remix with the chosen reference and the real product photographs. Use Shared requirements to state the role mapping, including slots to remove and items that are not included. Choose Style inspiration when the reference structure is too tied to its original offer. Close composition is useful only when the retained arrangement is still truthful.
Inspect the generated candidate in two passes. First count and identify the objects without reading the text. Then read the text and check whether hierarchy or proximity changes their apparent sale role. If a tray is incidental, the surrounding layout should not frame it as a bundle member. A caption may help, but it should not be expected to undo a strongly misleading composition.
Simplify a hypothetical three object reference
Write a concrete Shared requirements brief for the fictional exercise: “One full-size P5 only. Use the large hero role. Remove the miniature and tray. Do not add a sample, second bottle or gift.” Keep the product source and permitted ad reference separate. The workbench receives written requirements and references; it does not enforce an automatic H/M/T SKU assignment.
Suppose candidate A replaces both H and M with P5. Count two visible bottles and reject the offer change before judging the lighting. Candidate B removes M but groups P5 on a tray beside a gift headline. Reopen both T and the copy: a small “tray not included” note is not enough if the overall design still presents a bundle. Use the simpler one-item layout or another reference when that meaning cannot be made clear.
These are imagined outcomes, not generated tests. Recheck the actual destination crop and copy together: a crop can remove the explanation that distinguished an alternative view from a second sold unit. Save the role map, approved offer record and final asset so the next editor knows what each remaining object means.
Hand off the map with unresolved roles marked
Adobe describes composition references through arrangement, outline and depth.
Save the reference thumbnail, role worksheet and approved output together. An exception should name the ambiguous slot and its intended meaning: the small object is not a second sold unit, but the current image makes it look included. Route the decision to the offer owner when inclusion is unknown. Asking only for fewer objects can remove the wrong item while preserving the misleading role.
The product replacement guide covers inherited identity details. Use bundle review for sold quantity. Reopen both checks after a crop or copy change, because removing an explanatory label can turn a previously clear alternative into an apparent bundle member. Approval follows the offer represented in the delivered asset.

Frequently asked questions
Does every reference object need a replacement?
No. Remove roles your offer cannot support rather than filling all the original slots.
Can the workbench assign separate SKUs automatically?
No automatic per-slot SKU binding is promised. Keep the reference-role map outside the workbench, state the assignments in Shared requirements and inspect the resulting objects and copy.
When is Style inspiration preferable?
When preserving the original composition would retain misleading quantity, accessory or variant relationships.
