A+ product pages / PRACTICAL CHECK
When should an A+ component image use an exploded view?
Use an exploded view to explain verified component relationships, not to invent the inside of a product. Separation can imply that parts detach, arrive separately or need assembly. Define which implication is intended and supported before asking for a component image; use a real view when the relationships are uncertain.
Identify the question that needs separated parts
An illustrative manual coffee grinder has a removable catch cup and an adjustment ring. The merchant wants buyers to locate those parts. A separated-parts illustration might help, but a dramatic exploded image exposing an invented motor would transform the product into something it is not. More internal detail is not automatically more useful evidence.
Ask whether a normal annotated photograph already answers the question. Choose separation only when it clarifies a relationship that remains confusing in the assembled view. Obtain the actual component photographs or authoritative product documentation. Do not infer an internal part merely because similar grinders contain it.
Assign an evidence status to every visible component
| Component status | What separation may imply | Approval requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Supplied removable component | Customer can detach it | Verified part and connection |
| Fixed structural component | Customer can disassemble it | Avoid unsupported detachment implication |
| Optional accessory | It comes in the package | Make sale status clear and verified |
| Hidden internal component | The illustrated construction is real | Authoritative construction evidence |
| Illustrative spacing | This is the assembly distance or order | Do not present spacing as measured instruction |
Keep this component register outside CartVisual. List the exact part name and the source establishing its role. A visually accurate catch cup can still be misleading if the image adds a spare cup that is not supplied.
Keep a relationship image separate from a procedure
An exploded concept shows relationships; assembly instructions show a supported order and action. Arrows, numbers and hands can turn a descriptive layout into a procedure. Use them only when the actual instructions establish that operation.
Fictional grinder register G2 establishes one removable catch cup, an adjustable ring that the user does not remove, and a fixed body. It includes no spare cup. The task is to locate the catch cup, not to teach servicing. These are invented teaching facts, not specifications for an actual grinder.
| Candidate treatment | Meaning to check | Decision under G2 |
|---|---|---|
| One cup separated from its documented connection | The supplied cup detaches | Keep only if the real connection and customer operation remain accurate |
| Adjustment ring floating beside the body | The ring can be removed | Reject that separation; identify the ring on the assembled view |
| A second cup beside the first | Both cups arrive in the purchase | Remove the unsupported extra; a tiny note must not contradict the main image |
| Numbered arrows through fixed internals | A customer disassembly procedure | Use verified instructions and a different assignment, or retain a simpler external view |
Review inclusion, detachability and operation separately. A part may be real without being customer-removable, and a removable part need not be an included spare. Generated spacing, thread count and alignment are not manufacturing dimensions. If the connection cannot be documented, use an annotated real view instead. No image set, assembly or comprehension test was performed.
Create and inspect the component candidate
In A+ product pages, select an existing suitable detail or explanatory role and provide the verified component facts. Identify the descriptive purpose and parts that must remain intact. CartVisual is creating visual content, not a calibrated exploded assembly drawing or an automated parts catalog.
Shopify lists specifications, suggested uses and benefits with evidence as product-description information. Apply that principle to the labels here: inspect part names, quantity, material appearance and relationship against the actual references. A convincing cutaway does not verify a bearing, seal or mechanism hidden from the supplied source.
Review the implied customer action
Show the complete candidate to a reviewer and ask what they believe is supplied and what they think they should detach. If the answer exceeds the approved product facts, revise the depiction. A tiny illustrative diagram label is not a reliable correction for an image that strongly resembles an assembly instruction.
Keep the approved role beside the asset in the external handoff. Use assembly-sequence review when the assignment becomes a procedure and inclusion review when separated parts might read as extras. Recheck any later arrows, animation or caption. When a verified real detail view answers the question clearly, publish that evidence rather than paying for an elaborate separated arrangement with unresolved construction.

Frequently asked questions
Is an exploded view the same as assembly instructions?
No. A separated-parts image can describe relationships; a procedure needs a verified order, action and connection evidence.
Can AI supply the hidden internal parts?
Do not treat generated internals as product evidence. Use authoritative construction information or choose an external view.
What should I check besides component appearance?
Check quantity, inclusion, detachability and the customer action implied by spacing, arrows and captions.
