How do you make AI product copy sound like your brand?

Define voice through examples and decisions a reviewer can check. “Friendly and premium” leaves too much interpretation. Show an approved opening, a rejected exaggeration and the words your brand consistently uses for the product.

01 / HOW DO YOU MAKE AI PRODUCT COPY SOUND LIKE YOUR BRAND?

Choose short, authorized anchors

Use your own approved writing or text you are authorized to reuse. For an illustrative homeware brand, the anchor might use plain material descriptions and calm invitations. Describe why it works: short sentences, concrete nouns and no urgency without a real deadline. Avoid feeding a competitor’s entire article into a style-cloning request.

Keep voice rules separate from the fact sheet. A warmer tone cannot turn an unknown material into “natural linen.” A concise tone cannot remove a condition necessary to understand the offer.

Create a voice decision card

Add two brief examples in your own words. The card should be small enough that a reviewer can use it while reading the draft, not an abstract brand manifesto.

Review for observable choices

Read the opening, one detail paragraph and the CTA against the card. Mark the exact phrase that breaks a rule. Ask for a focused revision rather than simply requesting “more premium.” Preserve approved factual wording through that revision.

Use a bounded revision brief rather than a brand adjective: “Revise only the opening and invitation. Keep the approved product name and three-compartment fact unchanged. Use a concrete everyday task and plain nouns. Do not add a material, warranty, deadline, comparative benefit or scarcity claim.” For the fictional organizer, an acceptable invitation could be “See the three-compartment organizer”; “Claim your last chance for a lifetime of perfect order” introduces promises not supplied by that brief.

Record the accepted phrase and the exact reason: the opening names a task, the invitation names the product, and no new claim was added. Then re-read the detail paragraph and offer conditions against the fact sheet. Voice approval applies to those choices, not to every fact in the draft. Shopify permits tone instructions but warns that generated descriptions can invent benefits; this is background guidance, not a claim that an automatic style check has been run here. Use adjective evidence review for a phrase that changes the promise.

Save a useful approved example

After approval, retain a small example with its product context. Update the card when the brand intentionally changes direction. Do not treat a single successful caption as proof that the voice improves conversion. Use fixed template decisions for visual consistency and terminology control across channels.

05 / HOW DO YOU MAKE AI PRODUCT COPY SOUND LIKE YOUR BRAND?

A focused revision request

A fictional calm homeware voice uses “Make room for the tools you use every day.” A draft instead says “Revolutionize your life with the ultimate organizer.” The reviewer marks the generic superlatives and asks for a concrete use situation with the approved product name. Keep the factual compartment description untouched while revising the opening. Save the accepted line and the reason it fits the voice card. This gives future writers a small original anchor without claiming the wording caused better sales or copying another brand’s language.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Are tone adjectives enough?

Give observable choices and short original examples.

Can style instructions override product facts?

No. Lock approved names, facts and conditions before the style revision, then compare them again afterward. Accepting a calm opening does not approve a new benefit, material or deadline elsewhere.

Should I clone a competitor’s wording?

Study structure and write independently from your own brand evidence.
