Logo studio / PRODUCTION GUIDE
Which brand-template elements should be fixed, and which may change?
Set the reuse rules before distributing a brand template. Preserve approved identity artwork, allow the fields that genuinely change, and identify copy that needs fresh approval. A useful template tells the next editor what they may replace and what evidence they must recheck; keeping every element movable leaves that decision implicit.
Start with the next editor’s recurring task
Imagine a homeware seller publishing a weekly product card. The logo stays the same, the featured mug changes, and the offer expires on a different date. If the entire card is handed over as an unrestricted layout, a teammate can accidentally stretch the logo while trying to fit a long product name. If everything is fixed, the weekly task becomes unnecessarily difficult.
List what changes in an ordinary edition before deciding what to protect. Separate identity, product evidence, campaign information and decoration. Use approved source assets rather than asking each editor to recreate the mark from a screenshot. The goal is a clear repeatable assignment, not merely fewer editable objects.
Define fixed content and editable appearance separately
Canva Brand Kits stores approved logos, colors, fonts and assets. Its Brand Template locks distinguish a full lock from partial locking. A text box may allow content changes while keeping formatting, and an image frame may permit replacement or cropping. These are Canva controls, not CartVisual features.
The current Canva help also separates initial AI generation from later editing. It says Canva AI editing in the editor may treat partial locks as fully locked, so text or image updates may need to be made manually. If the template rules themselves need changing, its admins or brand designers adjust the template and republish. Do not unlock a logo simply because an automated price edit failed.
Give the template a field contract
In this invented weekly-card task, master L2 is fixed. Product M8 is the new mug, and the current price has not yet been confirmed. This is a proposed field record, not a real promotion.
| Element | Allowed update | Release check |
|---|---|---|
| Logo L2 | Use the approved master without stretching | Correct master and clear placement |
| M8 product photo | Replace with the approved current M8 asset | Handle, shape, contents and crop stay correct |
| Product name | Use exact approved text in its field | Check the longest real name for wrapping |
| Price/end date | Update from the actual offer owner’s record | If unconfirmed, hold the offer card; never retain a sample value |
A lock protects an editing rule, not the truth of the content. If last week’s amount is fixed in the template, it may become a faithfully repeated error. Mark sample values clearly in the working template and give each changing field an owner. Do not publish the exercise card with an invented amount.
Pilot the permitted edits before sharing
Pilot three ordinary changes in the external editor: replace the image with a different mug shape, insert the longest approved name, and update the verified offer. Inspect the export at its actual placement size. If a handle is cut off, adjust the crop within the allowed frame or ask the design owner for a new layout. If a long name touches L2, do not shrink or stretch L2 to make room.
Run the same intended update through the actual manual or AI-editing path the team plans to use. A successful initial generation is not proof that a later edit can change partially locked text. If Canva AI cannot update that field, use the permitted manual edit or route the rule change to the authorized template owner. Keep the verified commercial facts and exported proof for review. This article has not edited, published or tested a Canva template.
Use CartVisual for source creative and maintain the template externally
CartVisual can supply reviewed concept imagery from the appropriate workbench, while an external design tool holds the reusable composition and editable fields. Logo concepts remain raster outputs until production development. CartVisual does not supply Canva-style template locks, shared approval roles or automatic enforcement of the worksheet. Compare generated product imagery with its source before it enters the template.
Keep the template revision, approved masters and field rules together. Use the creative handoff guide to transfer reviewed materials without sharing an account. If the identity itself changes, follow the brand migration guide to identify affected uses. An ordinary offer update should remain distinguishable from that larger identity decision.

Frequently asked questions
Should every template element be locked?
Protect elements according to the recurring task. Test the actual manual or AI editing path: a partial lock may allow manual text changes while Canva AI editing still treats it as locked. Change template rules through the authorized owner, not by distorting the logo.
Does CartVisual enforce these field rules?
No. The contract and any template controls belong to the external editing and review workflow.
Can an editable price be copied from the sample card?
Do not carry a sample price into release. Obtain the actual offer value and end conditions; a locked or correctly formatted field does not verify them.
