Image remix / DECISION CHECK
Why does the price on my ad image disagree with the store after switching markets?
A price baked into a picture does not update when the store changes currency, rounding or market pricing. Treat a price image as a versioned market-specific asset, or keep volatile prices in a supported live text field instead.
Trace the shopper’s price context
Record the market, currency, offer dates, variant and quantity the ad intends. Then open the destination as that shopper and compare the product-page and checkout price under the applicable conditions. Do not compare a US dollar image with a euro storefront and assume the issue is only a currency symbol. Different market prices or rounding can create a different amount too.
Shopify documents international price rounding and market pricing behavior. The exact behavior depends on the actual store setup. This guide does not calculate taxes, exchange rates or a legally compliant total; it asks you to verify the active offer before publishing a static claim.
Keep static and live values distinct
| Price location | What updates it | Approval record |
|---|---|---|
| Pixels inside an image | New edited or generated export | Market, currency, dates and asset version |
| Store page price | Store pricing configuration | Actual selected context |
| Checkout amount | Applicable checkout configuration | Observed shopper path |
| Ad text or overlay feature | Specific platform setup | Preview and update owner |
A manually entered ad caption is also static unless a supported system supplies it dynamically. Do not assume that placing the price outside the image makes it automatically synchronized.
Design a less fragile creative
For a fictional multi-market lamp campaign, keep a product-led master without a hardcoded price, then supply eligible offer text through the publishing workflow. If the design requires a price graphic, make separate named exports for the approved markets and attach an expiry review. Verify that audience targeting and destination selection lead to the same offer shown in the asset.
Fictional offer ledger, not exchange-rate advice: one lamp variant L1, quantity one, has separately approved image claims USD 29 for market U and EUR 31.90 for market E during the recorded campaign period. These are invented prices, not currency conversions. Keep each asset ID, currency code, market, variant, quantity, offer conditions and expiry/timezone together with its actual destination route. A bare “29” cannot communicate that whole context.
If a shopper lands in market E from the U asset, hold the mismatch and review targeting, selected market and asset delivery. If the U price changes, replace or retire the U placement and verify the active output; merely saving a new export does not remove the old ad. Compare the destination through the intended authorized preview without placing a real order. Record separately any tax, shipping or eligibility conditions that affect the claim; do not invent an all-inclusive price.
Shopify’s documented rounding feature currently requires Shopify Payments and has stated exceptions. It explains one possible pricing mechanism, not a universal cause for every discrepancy. Use pack-versus-unit price review when the difference is the amount of merchandise rather than the market.
Close the expiry and variant gaps
Check the cheapest displayed variant against the pictured variant and quantity. Retire or replace a static offer when the price changes; retaining yesterday’s file in a folder is not the same as removing it from an active placement. CartVisual can help create a layout, but it does not synchronize prices with Shopify or monitor your offer expiry. Preserve the approved context with the final export.
