DELIVERY TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images

Why did dragging a layer break my product texture mask?

Layer order is part of the clipping relationship. Moving a layer can detach it from the intended base or bring another layer into the relationship. Inspect the clipping structure after reorganizing a template.

01 / WHY DID DRAGGING A LAYER BREAK MY PRODUCT TEXTURE MASK?

Work through the cause

  1. Save a copy before reorganizing. Name the base silhouette, texture and adjustments so their roles remain clear.
  2. Move related layers as a reviewed group where suitable. Inspect the clipping indicators and toggle the texture to see its actual extent.
  3. Compare the completed layout with the pre-move version. Recheck overlays and adjustment scope, not only the product outline.

A concrete case (illustrative)

Illustrative case: a paper texture should stay inside a label silhouette. Moving the label layer below an unrelated bottle layer makes the texture behave differently. Restore the intended base relationship rather than erasing the spill in the exported image.

Acceptance and next action

Pass when texture is restricted to the approved label and nearby product pixels remain unchanged. Naming and grouping help explain intent, but the visible relationship must still be checked after a structural edit.
