Product videos / QUESTION GUIDE
Why does a transition freeze the end of my short product clip?
A transition may need footage beyond the visible edit points. If your short source has no spare frames, an editor can repeat an end frame, producing an apparent freeze. Check the original clip and the edit separately before paying to regenerate a video that may already contain a usable shot.
Locate the freeze in the source or timeline
Play the original downloaded clip without the transition, then play the edited sequence. If the source remains smooth and the freeze appears only at the join, inspect the transition. Adobe’s clip-handle documentation explains how insufficient source footage can lead to repeated frames. That is an editing condition, not necessarily a model failure.
For an illustrative five-second bottle reveal, using every frame leaves no unused beginning or ending for a centered dissolve. A requested stable ending is useful, but it does not automatically become spare footage outside your selected out-point.
Inspect the available handle
| Condition | Likely edit choice | Review |
|---|---|---|
| Spare frames on both sides | Short centered transition | Check product during overlap |
| No spare outgoing frames | Hard cut or shifted transition | Avoid held duplicate frames |
| Unstable tail | Trim earlier | Do not hide wrong product in dissolve |
| Very short useful action | Simpler join | Preserve the demonstration |
These are editorial choices, not universal transition settings. The exact duration depends on actual source frames and the destination edit.
Plan footage around the edit
Review the selected production route, model, duration, resolution, audio and output object before editing. A source clip and an assembled multi-shot export are different inputs; inspect the actual file you received rather than assume every CartVisual route supplies the same format or editing scope. For a new shot, review its required starting conditions and current quote.
After generation or assembly, identify usable in-points and out-points from the real delivered file. Keep extra approved frames only if they preserve the product. A long hold with drifting label text is not a useful handle simply because it provides more seconds.
Recheck the complete transition
Inspect both clips during their overlap at normal speed and near the cut. A dissolve can show two product shapes at once, making a correct source look distorted. If that compromises identification, use a simpler cut rather than increasing the transition length.
Use clip continuity for matching states and editing scope for the larger workflow. Record whether the freeze was source footage, insufficient handles or a deliberate hold before deciding to regenerate.
Fictional frame inventory:150 frames numbered0–149 at30fps. The outgoing selection ends after frame139, leaving ten source frames140–149. A chosen transition requiring fifteen unused outgoing frames lacks five. Moving that out-point to134 would leave fifteen, but only if the earlier cut preserves the required action. This is arithmetic, not a Premiere session or a universal transition-duration rule.
| Observation to obtain | Possible decision | Do not infer |
|---|---|---|
| Freeze exists in the original file | Review source/intentional hold first | Every freeze was caused by a transition |
| Source is clean; repeated end frames appear only after the join | Inspect available handles and transition settings | The model necessarily needs regeneration |
| Extra frames exist but merchandise drifts | Shorter/simpler approved edit or another usable shot | More seconds automatically means useful media |
Adobe documents repeated end frames when media is insufficient. Check the actual source boundaries and transition in your editor; do not synthesize missing factual motion to hide a failed join. Inspect the overlap for a doubled product silhouette before approving the final export.

Frequently asked questions
Is a freeze always an AI error?
No. Check whether the edit repeats an end frame because footage is insufficient.
Does a longer source guarantee usable handles?
No. The extra frames must also be accurate and stable.
Should every CartVisual output be treated as the same kind of clip?
Identify the actual selected route and delivered file; a single source clip and an assembled multi-shot output need separate edit review.
