Product images / PRACTICAL GUIDE

How to plan a product image set without repeating the same shot

Assign a different buyer question to every image. Use the first view to identify the product, the next to explain a verified benefit, another to show context, and a detail image to resolve uncertainty. Counts alone do not make a useful set.

01 / HOW TO PLAN A PRODUCT IMAGE SET WITHOUT REPEATING THE SAME SHOT

Begin with questions, not a target number

For a desk lamp, shoppers may ask what it looks like, how the controls work, how large it is and whether it fits a small desk. Seven photographs from the same angle can leave those questions unanswered. Write the question beside each planned image before deciding how many to create.

In Product images, use White-background hero for identification, Benefits image for a verified selling point, Lifestyle image for context, and Material details for one visible source detail. Material details is a photographic close-up, not a dimension diagram or a layout with callouts. Confirm the destination requirements before publishing a listing.

02 / HOW TO PLAN A PRODUCT IMAGE SET WITHOUT REPEATING THE SAME SHOT

Give each role one purpose

RoleExample for a desk lampApproval question
White backgroundComplete lamp with controls visibleCan the buyer identify the exact product?
Selling pointAdjustable head shown clearlyDoes the visual demonstrate a true feature?
SceneLamp on a compact working deskIs the scale believable?
Material detailsOne close crop of a source-visible switch or connectorDoes this resolve a remaining uncertainty?

Use a selling-point layout that matches the information. An editorial layout can support one strong benefit; a specification grid works better for separate facts; a split composition can distinguish two verified uses. Keep claims short enough to read at the final display size.

03 / HOW TO PLAN A PRODUCT IMAGE SET WITHOUT REPEATING THE SAME SHOT

Generate and approve one role first

  1. Open Product images, upload the real product references and enter verified Product facts & requirements.
  2. Select the current Image purpose and plan its count. Give each planned image a different buyer question.
  3. Review the individual image plan, select the image to create and check the displayed cost before confirming.
  4. Compare the result with the source before generating another planned image or switching purpose.

The count plans the current purpose. It does not automatically generate the whole image set. Requirements, approved copy and ratio are saved separately for each purpose, so check them again when switching. Completed creations can be found in My assets.

04 / HOW TO PLAN A PRODUCT IMAGE SET WITHOUT REPEATING THE SAME SHOT

Keep a set coherent without making it identical

Carry the same product variant, lighting family and color treatment across the set. Change the framing only when it helps answer a different question. If a model is useful for showing scale or use, choose the same reference for the relevant scenes. Keep the product-only identification image free of a person.

Review the sequence on a phone before adding more images. If two consecutive images communicate the same information, remove one or change its purpose. This is a content decision, not an algorithmic requirement. A smaller, complete set can be more useful than a longer sequence of decorative duplicates.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Does the planned image count trigger a batch automatically?

No. The current workbench generates the selected image. Approve that result before continuing with other planned roles.

Should every image contain an AI model?

No. Use a model only when it helps communicate use, scale or audience context. Keep identification and technical detail images focused on the product.

Where should I put exact dimensions?

Use actual measured values in an A+ Dimensions & sizing or Specifications module, or in an external editing workflow where you can verify every number. Material details is a source-visible photographic crop without added annotations. Neither a generated scene nor a generated crop establishes measurements.
