Image remix / FIELD GUIDE

Will your product email still make sense when images are blocked?

An email should remain understandable without its pictures. Put the essential product name, offer conditions and destination in native email text and buttons. A generated poster can support that message, but it should not be its only carrier.

01 / WILL YOUR PRODUCT EMAIL STILL MAKE SENSE WHEN IMAGES ARE BLOCKED?

Read the campaign without the artwork

Write the intended action in one sentence before opening the template. For an illustrative desk-lamp launch, the reader needs the product name, the reason to visit and a working product link. A beautiful launch graphic with all three baked into pixels becomes an empty block when the client suppresses images.

Shopify’s email guidance specifically recommends keeping critical text outside images. Treat that as a useful delivery principle, not a reason to duplicate a dense poster word for word in the email. Let the graphic establish visual interest and native text carry the essential decision.

Image alt text helps describe the image, but it is not a dependable substitute for an entire promotional layout. Keep the action available through a real link.

Adapt the creative to the email role

Use a simpler image with a clear product and generous space around it. Keep pricing and expiry details in the template where they can be reviewed and updated. CartVisual can provide creative imagery; it does not send your email campaign or verify its subscriber permissions. Use the chosen email platform for those steps.

Inspect a real test delivery

Send a test through the email tool to your own authorized address, view it on a phone and inspect the blocked-image state. Confirm the button target and read the conditions with no images displayed. Use the offer update guide for stale artwork and the publication checklist before release.

05 / WILL YOUR PRODUCT EMAIL STILL MAKE SENSE WHEN IMAGES ARE BLOCKED?

A message that survives the blank image

A fictional lamp email uses a picture for the desk atmosphere, a native heading for the lamp name and a labeled link to the actual product. Its offer condition sits in native text below the invitation. With images disabled, the reader can still identify the item and visit the right page. The alternative text describes the desk scene instead of carrying the entire offer. Inspect this state in the real test delivery: an editor preview that always shows images does not establish what the recipient can understand when those images are absent.

A fictional native-text example is: “Luma desk lamp. Launch price USD 40 through October 31, 2026, 23:59 UTC; shipping calculated at checkout.” The separately labeled “View the Luma lamp” button must point to that merchant’s actual lamp page. Those terms are invented for this worksheet, not a live CartVisual or merchant promotion. Replace every amount, date, timezone and shipping condition with the approved campaign facts; omit an offer claim if there is no approved offer.

In the test message, record three answers with images disabled: which item is sold, which exact conditions apply, and where the usable link leads. If only the picture carries “USD 40” or the expiry, the test fails even if its alt text mentions a lamp. Repeat the link/condition check with images enabled to catch a stale price baked into the artwork. Shopify recommends a self-test of links and discount details; no email was sent for this example. Use market-specific price review when recipients see different approved offers.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Should the whole email be one image?

Keep the essential message and action in native email elements.

Can alt text carry all sale conditions?

Use native text for the approved price, eligibility, expiry and other essential conditions, with a real labeled link for the action. Verify the actual test delivery with images disabled and enabled; alt text alone does not establish a complete readable offer.

Does CartVisual send the test email?

No. Use your email publishing tool.
